Workplace assessment

At HENRI Investigations we view a workplace assessment as an incredible opportunity for an employer to gain valuable and honest information from employees and partners.

When is an assessment needed?

Federally regulated workplaces are mandated to complete a workplace assessment every three years. Outside of a duty to complete federally mandated workplace assessments an employer may wish to complete an assessment for the following reasons:

  • Increased employee turnover
  • Complaints from customers, community members, and/or agency partners
  • Conflicts between team members or between management and direct reports
  • A disconnect between company and employee values
  • Complaints from employees
  • Increased risk to employee safety due to the nature of the working environment or population being served by employees
  • To gain a sense of the strengths and areas of opportunity within the workplace
  • A new employer wishes to create meaningful change within their role
  • Identify risks in the workplace
  • Access an unbiased perspective of all aspects within the working environment

Our assessment process includes:

Client Consultation & Collaboration– We work with our clients to determine what their goals are and what insight they are hoping to gain from the workplace assessment. We need to collaborate with our clients to ensure we provide appropriate, attainable, and accessible recommendations within the final assessment report. Our client consultation includes planning for implementation and follow up of recommendations, accountability meetings, and commitment statements.

Data Collection– At different stages of the assessment process we offer and encourage anonymous data collection through a survey format, and the opportunity for employees to participate in an interview. Allowing employees to provide anonymous feedback is important when a workplace is struggling with a culture of fear, or if employees fear their participation may result in reprisal.

Following the survey portion of our assessment we invite employees who do not wish to remain anonymous to participate in an interview process where they can elaborate on their responses to the survey.

Analysis of data– We use various tools to analyze the data we collect to identify areas of strength and of potential or current risk. We provide the rationale behind our analysis along with what tools were used by our investigators throughout the assessment process.

Root Cause Analysis– This step is crucial for employers who wish to make meaningful change. Too often we identify and take action to address the symptom of a much deeper cultural cause within the workplace. We examine policies, training methods and material, historical complaints or incidents, and any previous assessments alongside the current data we gather from employees (both present and past).

Recommendations– Our team aims to provide our clients with a list of recommendations that address all identified root causes. We provide specific recommendations that are action oriented and can be implemented in a timely manner. Our collaboration with the client allows us to provide accessible recommendations that fit within the financial and staffing restrictions of our clients.

Final Report– Once the assessment process is complete, the investigator provides the client with a thorough and complete report. The report highlights trends within the data collected, areas of strength and risk, any historical factors at play, and includes the analysis, root cause analysis, and recommendations. The reports HENRI Investigations produce aim to provide the reader with the full picture of the workplace culture.

Follow up and Accountability– We offer 3, 6, and 12 month follow up consultations as an added option to our workplace assessment contracts. Clients may wish to see our final report before determining if they would like follow-up support or not. Our goal is to empower our clients to create and maintain workplaces that are safe and healthy environments for all employees.
